About the Agricultural sector

Six plantation companies grow and export tea, coffee, avocados and macadamia from the highlands around Kericho, Nandi, Limuru, Kiambu and Murang'a: Kakuzi, Sasini, Williamson Tea, Kapchorua Tea, Limuru Tea and Eaagads. Their results follow the weather, world tea and coffee auction prices and the shilling, because most sales are in dollars. Several have a high price per share and trade only a few hundred shares a day, so a single order can move the close. Full-year results arrive between March and June, and the sector's average change on a quiet day is often driven by one counter.
